Rainbow Valley P.E.I.
Again this year, we had an opportunity to play at Rainbow Valley. We left Upper Clements park after our 6:00p.m. show and headed for the boat in Pictou N.S. We were expected early Saturday morning so I could play bass for the fiddlefest. And again this year, our old van had problems. It began to shake after about 10mins on the road. We made it as far as Truro and decided to stop for the night and get to a garage early.Of course being Saturday, no one could help us.That's when we decided to just continue on faith. We shook the whole way, but we arrived by 1:00p.m. Mary Smith, the entertainment organizer, was busy serving lunch to about 200 guests but came over to us right away to welcome us and get our lunch. Earle the owner took our van out for a test ride the next day and said it was a miracle were made it.The universal joints were ceased solid. Earle and his son spent the next day fixing it for us! Wonderful people! We had 4 great days at Rainbow Valley.Mary fed us well. What a feast she puts on! Saturday and Sunday I had the opportunity to play bass with fiddle champions Ned Landry, Winston Crawford, Champion Accordion & spoon player Roger Lanteigne, Janelle Dupuis, Eddie Arsenault, & Nathine Condon. We had a great responds from the audience when we did our sets! Sold a lot of C.D.'s. On Monday & Tuesday we played 3 sets each day on the grounds and in the evenings we played in the Rainbow Room. Our son T.J.was in charge of C.D. sales. He did a great job. It was a great time overall and we're looking forward to next year! |

Upper Clements Park This summer we could be found at Upper Clements Park in Clementsport, N.S.,every Thursday and Friday. Upper Clements is a theme park with lots of rides, daily entertainment and a wild life park. A great place to visit for the whole family. We enjoyed our time there this summer and had an opportunity to play in their new entertainment pavilion as well as in the village square and food court. A special thanks goes out to our devoted fans Cecil and Lou, who were there every week to watch us perform, Jeff, our sound man, and the staff, who made us feel at home. Hope to see you next year. |
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly.
South Shore Bluegrass Music Variety Show
While we were at Rainbow Valley we met Marie Aulenback, the wife of the entertainment director for the South Shore Bluegrass Music Assoc. A couple weeks later we recieved a call fron her husband Reynolds, asking us to come to New Canada N.S., near Bridgewater, to perform at their Variety Show. We rounded up our madolin player, Ben Dugas, and set off for New Canada. We were pleasantly surprised. The variety show was held at the associations campground in a beautiful new hall. We performed our regular show on Saturday evening and a Gospel show on Sunday morning. We jammed until 2 in the morning along with some great players and were invited to their potluck after the Gospel show . What a great time! Hope to come back again. If your in the area, be sure to check out their campground and variety shows. The association is always looking for new members. |
